Castrol OptigearTM BM are solid-free high performance gear oils containing the additive combination MicrofluxTransTM (MFT). Designed to reduce wear caused by surface fatigue, pitting, spalling, scuffing, scoring orirregularities during running-in period and during normal operations.Microflux Trans (TRANS=TRiple Action Non-sacrificial Surface engineering) improves friction surfaces to anextent not possible with normal machining processes and conventional Extreme Pressure (EP) lubricants. In atribological system, the polarized MFT additives instantaneously create a passive film on friction surfaces beforefriction occurs. At a given load level, the MFT additives create a resistant protective layer on friction surfaces.Under severe load, components of the MFT additive combination are activated and diffuse into the surfacesinitiating an improvement of their friction characteristics through plastic deformation. The organic reaction productsbecome a component of the tribopolymer system. Unlike the case with conventional lubricants, the tribopolymersformed by MFT are long-chained compounds with excellent lubricity and adhesion. The load carrying area isimproved and the hydrodynamic lubrication film is easier to maintain. This unique physical-chemical reaction isCastrol surface engineering and achieves a non-sacrificial micro-smoothing of the friction surfaces. The MFTadditive technology provides optimum wear protection and an extremely low coefficient of friction even underextremes of pressure, vibration, shock loads, at high or low speeds or varying operational conditions.Optigear BM gear oils are in conformity with and even exceed the requirements of DIN 51517 part 3 CLP andAGMA specifications 9005-D94 for EP Gear Oil.

MFT PD helps improveperformance when operating temperature and loads reach a certain level of activation energy, by enabling the microsmoothingof surface roughness without increasing wear. The smoothed surface delivers optimum wear protection andan extremely low coefficient of friction, especially in applications which experience extreme pressure, shock loads,vibrations or low speeds. MFT PD helps to protect against scuffing and shock loading, while maintaining a high loadcarrying capacity, and can help prevent the progression of micro-pitting in pre-damaged gears.

Castrol Tribol™ 1100 gear oils with the TGOA™ (Tribol Gear Oil Additive) additive system represent a significantadvancement in gear oil technology. Developed for service in enclosed gear drives, journals, and antifrictionbearings, Tribol 1100 gear oils are typically used where heavy and shock load conditions prevail.Tribol 1100 gear oils are manufactured from the highest quality petroleum base oils. Blended into this oil is thelatest development in the field of surface improving additives designated TGOA. TGOA is an oil soluble additivepackage designed to reduce friction while providing surface protection and improvement. The TGOA additivepackage offers superior performance because of its unique action on frictionalsurfaces.The TGOA additive package is activated by high specific loads and corresponding temperatures causing achemical-physical reaction. This results in an equalization of surface roughness without creating abrasion.Therefore, surface roughness is reduced without the loss of surface material.The results of the TGOA additives can be compared with a rolling process in the micro-range. The surfaceroughness is gradually levelled and smoothed. Through smoothing of the working surfaces, the loads aredistributed over increasing areas and the actual load carrying area is enlarged.If surface roughness peaks redevelop because of shock loads or stop-and-go operation, the TGOA additivepackage is automatically reactivated. Surface roughness is again smoothed and lubrication optimized.Tribol 1100 range has passed the Cincinnati Milacron Thermal Stability Test. This test evaluates copper and steelcorrosion and oxidation stability. Tribol 1100 gear oils are approved as P 74, P 59, and P 35 for the ISO 220, 320,and 460 grades respectively. These oils exceed minimum requirements according to DIN 51517 Part. 3 for CLPgear oils
